Sri Syama Sastri, the oldest from the trinity, was taught Telugu and Sanskrit by his father, who was the pujari (Hindu priest) for the Meenakshi temple in Madurai. Syama Sastri's texts were largely composed in Telugu, widening their common charm. Several of his most famous compositions incorporate the nine krithis, Navaratnamaalikā, in praise with
